How to Have Answered Prayers
I learned about this new feature, Spiritual Sundays, from one of the sponsors, Charlotte of At Home in Scottsdale. Spiritual Sundays is a place to share our inspirational thoughts and quotations.
When it comes to our prayers of requests to God, we are assured that they will be answered."And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you;seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you."
Luke 11:9The following text implied that receiving an answer comes when we line up our wants with God’s plans:
"Delight thyself also in the LORD;and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart."
Ps. 37:4This prayer beautifully expresses the importance of aligning our wishes with divine principles: "Grant me, O Lord,
to know what I ought to know,
to love what I ought to love,
to praise what delights you most,
to value what is precious in your sight,
to what what is offensive to you.
Do not allow me to judge according to the sight of my eyes,
Not to pass sentence according to the hearing of the ears of ignorant men;
But to discern with a true judgment between things visible and spiritual,
And above all things, always to inquire what is the good pleasure of your will."

Beautiful prayer--just beautiful.
Oh and the thing I like about the Luke passage....if you read on down further he is speaking especially in reference to The Holy Spirit's presence in our life. He tells us to ask, seek, knock and then He gives the example of a kid asking his Dad for a fish or and egg and how the dad won't give him a snake or scorpion. And then he concludes by saying, "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?"
What a wonder--we are to ask , seek, knock and He promises to Give us the Holy Spirit. ...He who unites us to God and leads us into all truth--what a blessing from our Father.!!
A really great post! I love the prayer! Thanks also for dropping by my blog today.
Thank you so much for visiting my S&T on Friday - it is such fun to have new company. The red ice cream bowls are just beautiful - such a nice way to have a special treat. I love to see others' collections.
Loved that prayer at the end! Thanks for sharing.
What wonderful verses and a prayer to remind us of how our heavenly Father does answer our prayers.
Have a glorious Sonday!
Kathi :)
Yes, nannykim, as the quote from Luke shows...as we ask for the best gifts, our prayers will be answered. God has high plans for us and He is more than willing to grant them to each of His children.
This is a powerful prayer! I love it! I copied and pasted it to my list of quotes.
Thanks for an inspiring post!
