The cup with the decorative band on the outside is in the "Malvern" shape, while the band on the outside is the "Avon" shape.

Hi: I did not know that about this pattern. It is one of my favorites. I wish I had like yours. It is always a pleasure to hear from you. Have a wonderful week. Blessings dear friend, Martha
Gorgeous! I have a cup and saucer in this too! I have the Malvern version, but I actually favor the Avon for drinking in. I don't think I have featured this cup yet for T.T. so thank you for reminding me. Lady Carlyle is such a beautiful pattern!
Hugs,
Terri
I love this pattern. I don't own a piece of it yet, but both pieces are gorgeous and either one would be lovely to have. Thank you for sharing your pretties today.
Blessings,
Sandi
HI Carri! Oh, please - put me down for loving the one with the design inside the cup. Your description was a bit difficult to understand. Did you mean that the cup with the INSIDE band was the Avon? Than that's the one for me!
Thanks for visiting my mushroom tea party at The Writer's Reverie!
Joy!
Miss Kathy
I have Lady carlyle Malvern shape, but didn't know there is also Avon shape. It's so pretty. Love the floral pattern inside the cup.
Royal Albert made the pattern in 4 shapes, I think...and all are lovely! Such a pretty pattern!

I think they are both beautiful! I like them together...like sisters:) They complement each other.

Nice to join you for tea this morning. My first visit with you.Lovely tea post:)
Hi all
I am looking to purchase one Avon shape teacup, from around 1950, in order to complete a set left me by my mother. It is quite difficult to find them !
The cups in my set have a pointy handle rather than the rounded one shown in your photos. It has the registration number 855022 underneath.
If anybody has one to sell or knows where I might get one, please send me a follow-up.
Thanks !

My Avon cup does have the pointed tip on the handle...it's not very visible in the photos.
Have you checked Ebay,Replacements Ltd, or other china sellers online?
I hope you will be able to find the cup soon. Happy New Year to you!
I am waiting for something to show up on eBay, but the bidding process can be infuriating - sometimes listings end in the middle of the night, or sellers aren't specific about damage.
I'd rather buy somewhere the price is fixed, the seller is reputable and I don't have to wait for a listing to close, or fight a piece of sniping software that will outbid me if I go to sleep !
Does anybody know of some online china stores I could try ? Perhaps with a "wanted" classified list ?
I had another wild idea over breakfast - would anyone be willing to do a swap ?
I have two Avon teacups of the right vintage, but slightly different shapes - one has a more rounded handle, one has a pointy handle, but a more fluted design on the cup.
I'd be happy to pay any shipping costs involved.
Happy New Year to all !
