Three or More Tuesday – Rose Teacups and Saucers

Three or More Tuesday is sponsored by Tam at The Gypsy's Corner. Please visit her for more participating posts.

In preparing for Mother’s Day last year I bought various floral dishes and cups and saucers with pink rose motifs. Since my elderly mother loves pink, I bought a few itemss in Bavarian and English china.
Along the way since then I have accumulated a csmall ollection of mostly pink rose-themed cups and saucers. They are kept in a corner cabinet in the dining room. The Bavarian dishes are on the top shelf, (with an English teapot), and the second shelf holds Royal Albert "Lady Carlyle" dishes including tea set:
Here are some placed on a rack on a side table for Mother’s Day 2008:
This is the first pink teacup and saucer I bought. It is a Lefton footed teacup with an iridescent finish.
Then I bought a set of cups and saucers and matching dessert plates. These were made in Bavaria, Germany:

This lovely pattern also caught my eye – Noritake Gala Contessa
Here are four rose-themed cups and saucers on the cup rack:

Outdoor Wednesday – New Plant Bed

For some time now I have wanted a new plant bed just under my bedroom and bath windows so I could look out at something pretty close up. On Monday June 15 my wish came into fruition as the ground was cleared of grass and two plants were put in. They are the start of what I’m planning as a blue and white garden.
The first two plants are Floribunda Rose "Iceberg" from Star Roses. You can spot them in back of the landscaper’s truck.
At the nursery, I saw the stunning white roses and drew the landscaper’s attention. He liked them as well and decided to buy one for his mother and another for his aunt.
I saw a few truly blue flowers last Friday when I went with my landscaper to a very large nursery. I hope they will still be there when I return to pick out a few for the new garden.
For winter interest, I want to include some blue-hued evergreens.

Well, anyone who has visited my blog over the past year must have noticed all the posts I’ve done on blue and white dishes, linens, etc. Now it is even spilling over into the back yard!

I'm sure the following three books will be helpful as I undertake this new garden project. The Color Garden: White, The Color Garden: Blue and Making a White Garden.
The Color Garden: White and The Color Garden: Blue are authored and photographed by Elvin McDonald are part of a series of books on "single color plantings for dramatic landscapes."
Each book comes with a relevant seed packet from White Swan Ltd. of Beaverton, Oregon.
Making a White Garden by Joan Clifton gives a through treatment of garden design with white.
The frontispiece shows the garden at Chenies Manor in Buckinghamshire, England.:

I trust that the rest of this week and the weekend will go well for you. Do stop by again soon.
