As a couple, my sister and her husband enjoy finding special objects and furnishings for their Florida home. They also enjoy adding vintage or antique pieces to provide useful accents to the décor. For example, on entering through the glass double doors to the foyer one sees a vintage oak bench. The simple design is enhanced with an animal print pillow.
Elsewhere is a desk they have had for many years and a chair found at a consignment shop in Massachusetts last year.
A favorite piece in their eclectic decor is a painted Chinese chest that was certified as at least 100 years. They found it at a Home Goods store that had closeout inventory from an antique store.
The chest has two upper doors and two lower ones, with a drawer in between.
The chest is situated near the kitchen breakfast table, and near the dining room in the background.
The upper cabinet holds part of her collection of small percussion instruments from various countries.
The lower cabinet holds a set of white Bavarian china with pink roses, a gift from our mother.

that cabinet is gorgeous..i love the muted patina :)
You have collected some very nice pieces of furniture. I think sometimes, the material and workmanship is better in older things. Nice job.
I love that painted chest!
What a gorgeous chest. It is just beautiful. A really beautiful home too. Hugs, Marty
That chest is beautiful. I also love the little bench...I have always wanted one, but my house is so small, I have no where to put it. Great treasures, I love vintage furniture, I think the quality is so much better and you can not beat the way it holds up to every day use.
Have a great VTT!
That "simple oak bench" looks like an old platform pew to me! They used to make short pews like that to fit on the platform. I kinda doubt they would have had ANY cushions on it, much less animal print! Hehehehehehe
It's my favorite of all these pieces - - -I think I'm in deep envy.
I love the cabinet...what a great conversation piece I'm sure!
Great share!
gorgeous chest with wonderful character.
Oh..what a beautiful home this must be. The pieces you've shown are lovely..I specially love the chest.
Happy VTT..have a wonderful weekend.
LV - Thanks for the lovely compliment, but these belong to my sister and brother-in-law, so I'm passing on your compliment to them.

Your sister has some gorgeous pieces of furniture! I especially love the wonderful bench!
Cheers!
Your sister's home must be so lovely, if what you've shown is any example! Love the bench and desk, and that Chinese chest is just gorgeous too. It looks like it was made for that wall. I've heard of Home Goods, but I had no idea they got closeouts, or that the inventory could be from an antique store!
Your sister has some nice things, love that cabinet!

The Chinese chest is wonderful.
Lovely home -- I especially love eclectic furnishings -- they reflect the many-faceted personalities of their owners so well. Pretty, and interesting, too!
