Three or More Tuesday – Footed Cake Stands

Three or More Tuesday is sponsored by Tam at The Gypsy's Corner. Please visit her for more participating posts.

My first footed cake plate was one I had really wanted for a long time. I finally got it after hosting parties, booking parties, and making sales. It is the covered Princess House cake plate, ("Princess Heritage Deluxe Cake Plate"), available only as a hostess prize for three qualified bookings.
It is 12 ½’ in diameter, accomodating cakes up to 5" high. Nevertheless, the dome was not wide enough to cover this fruit filled and decorated cake for Mother’s Day 2008. So I had to use the plastic dome that came from the Shaw’s supermarket bakery.
My second footed cake plate was bought for me by my youngest sister. We found it at either Marshall’s or TJ Maxx.
It is off-white ceramic with a green sponge border around the top and fruit in the middle.

It was used for a second supermarket cake for Mother’s Day 2008;
I just found the third cake plate at my consignment store in March for $4.68. It is one of the Martha Stewart reproduction of 1940’s glass cake stands. According to marthastewart.com:
"These substantial pedestals were inspired by vintage cake stands in Martha’s collection. We commissioned exclusive reproductions in 4 sizes using glass molds dating from the 1940s. Use one alone to serve a cake dramatically, or stack one on top of another as Martha likes to do for an impressive table display in the Victorian tradition. Elegant and durable, the clear stands are 6" high with a .25" lip and a sturdy cupped base. Dishwasher-safe."
The stand is impressed with "Martha by Mail" on the underside of the footed base. Mine plate is 6" high x 10" diameter.

Thanks for visiting today. Please come back soon. I would enjoy reading your comment and will visit your blog as well.

I love your footed cake stands. Brings to my attention that I have a collection of cake stands as well. See how we don't see what is right in front of us. It takes blogging to remind us. Thanks! I will have to share mine at some time.
