Outdoor Wednesday – Fall Flowers


Since the summer flowers were all but done, I thought it was time to get some fall flowers for the front step containers. So yesterday I went to Walmart and got five 8" container plants. They were reasonably priced at just $4.50 each for a total of $23.91 with tax.

I went intending to get some bright yellow mums but when I saw these dark red mums and was smitten by the rich fall color.

I like the change to the front steps. It is quite a change from the pansies in spring:
Looks like fall is on its way!

    Oh 'Mums' the word when talking about fall, I've noticed a few leaves trying to change colors! Ready or not I think it is on our heals. . .Great Outdoor Wednesday post!

    They are beautiful. You're way ahead of me though. I'm still pinching back my geraniums and petunias :-). I do hope you are enjoying these last few days of summer.

    They are lovely! I like the rich red, too. But I am not ready to toss in the towel on my summer blossoms. I hope to hold off till the end of the month before putting out mums!

    Thanks for your post. Your urns look great. I was wondering if mums were cheaper somewhere other than my local ace. Now I know there is somewhere to go.

    I love the pots your beautiful mums are in. I bought some 8inch mums at Roses here in Ashland and they are just huge. $3.33 a piece.
    I enjoyed your blog.
