Last week I got another dollar deal at the thrift store. The bill covered these four items:

This vintage milk glass diamond-shaped footed dish is decorated with daisies and diamond cuts. At 3 ¼" high x 4 ½" wide x 6 ½" long, it is a charming candy dish. It proved difficult to photograph with flash.

The soft blue green plate is a vintage annual made in France. Dated 1971 on the front, the reverse side reads, "Faience de St. Amand/ France/ Edition Limitee." It is 9 ¾" in diameter and is part of a "Wildlife Series" with embossed surfaces depicting deer, birds, fruit, branches and and trees. Faience is tin-glazed pottery, also known as majolica.

This vintage off-white ceramic planter is stamped on the bottom "CP-778/ USA". I like the art deco styling on this piece.

The simple white Corelle plate has a small chip on the underside of the rim. I plan to use it for meal preparation.

The simple tripod candle stand comes in handy to use with other black iron or wire pieces I have. The pink candle was free.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you will return soon. I love reading your comments.

Vintage Thingies Thursday – More Vintage Planters

This post is part of Vintage Thingies Thursday, sponsored by Lisa, the Apron Queen.

I have shared some planters previously, here and here, but thought I’d share once a bit more today. I had also shown some shell-shaped items before in this post.

Many potteries designed and produced ceramic planters and in a great variety of patterns and colors. It is really fun to realize how many different shapes were used for planters – baby shoes, bunnies and other animals, flowers, cacti, and sea shells.

The first two planters for today’s VTT post are shaped like nautilus shells. These planters are about 4" tall by 7 ½" long. They have no markings as to manufacturer or pattern name or country of origin. However, they are most likely American products.

This yellow double shell shell planter is relatively small at only 3" tall by 7" long

It still makes a pleasing presentation for whatever you might plant or display in it.

Vintage Thingies Thursday – Ceramic Planter

This post is part of Vintage Thingies Thursday, sponsored by Lisa, the Apron Queen.

This vintage planter in green ceramic is from my mother. I planted a couple small succulent plants in it.

Later I popped in one small hens and chicks plant (sempervivum) that fell off its own planter.

I like the sculpted sides and that it stands on feet.

It is usually on the deck but I had to take it inside because of a great downpour. The planter does not have drainage holes so the succulent would sit and get bogged down

By the way, does anyone know what the name of the succulent plant might be?

Friday Show and Tell – Vintage Shell Planter

Show and Tell

Show and tell Friday is hosted by Kelli at There is No Place Like Home.

For today’s post, I would like to share an item I bought in March from a local consignment shop. It is a vintage planter in form of a double shell. It is in tones of pink with gilt embellishment. On the bottom it is marked "Royal Fenton/[crown mark]/ Genuine/ Fenton Ware/ Staffordshire/ England. Incised in the pottery are the words, "WILTON/ SHELL/ ENGLAND."

I enjoy real sea shells as well as things with shell form or pattern. This planter, or vase, fits with my few pieces of Fitz and Floyd "Oceana" items. I have salt and pepper shakers and a small open container. They are in the living room curio cabinet.

I think I may use the planter as a centerpiece along with the "Oceana" pieces.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my vintage planter. To visit other Show and Tell posts, please go to Kelli’s. Thank you for coming by. Please leave a comment and do come again soon.

Vintage Thingies Thursday – Lilypad Planter

I am participating in Vintage Thingies Thursday. On her blog Lisa, the Apron Queen gives a comprehensive list of the sorts of vintage items which qualify: Briefly, they include vintage linens and textiles, vintage kitchen items, and vintage sewing items.

Today I will share one of the vintage items I got from my Mother in March. It is a vintage planter or vase in green ceramic. It has two white and green water lilies on a dark watery base. The shape of the vase is a rounded square. The background is a mottled light green. Here are some photos of the planter/vase.

I look forward to using the planter/vase for flowers this summer.
