Friday Show and Tell – Thrifted Tureen

Show and Tell
Show and Tell Friday is hosted by Kelli at There is No Place Like Home

I will just squeeze in a bit of time to make a post today. My item is an off-white soup tureen and ladle which I got yesterday. I was walking back to the car with my mother when I glanced in at the thrift store. I saw the tureen and asked mother to wait while I ran in to see how much it cost. I looked at the label, which read $3.00. I checked and one handle had a barely noticeable chip. So I decided to get it.

Here it is all freshly clean on the kitchen counter:

It has a very nice ribbed design and a pretty knob on the lid.

The little nick is on this handle.

It has some crazing inside, but is all smooth. The matching ladle has a few small nicks.

It fits in well with my other off-white dishes and things.

Well, I must stop now, as company is coming within the hour and I have a few preparations still to do.

Thanks for stopping by, and do visit Kelli more Show and Tell posts.

Nice soup tureen! I like the white. Great price!! Are you going to make soup and use it, or just use it as a display? I love homemade soup, but don't care for canned soup!

Oh, Carrie!! My heart just went pitter patter when I read your comment about my Peters' dishes. I checked out the URL you gave me, and she is the ONE!! I figured she must have been from Colorado, as all of the pieces I have were found in Colorado. I have searched for several years to find out some info, but always came up short. A couple of years ago, I even crashed our computer one day looking for her. I had no idea the dishes were that old. I'm so excited - thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! Sally P.S.: I guess I need to beef up my search skills.

Oh, great, salmagundi, ...I'm glad it's the right Anna Peters. I just love a search challenge. Actually, as a collector, I have to have lots of patience in looking for information.
Glad to be of help.

Your soup tureen is beautiful! I love that it's all white --- it goes with everything beautifully! I also have a white soup tureen, but I broke my ceramic white ladle. Sigh. I found a white, plastic one that works, but it's just not the same.
