Flora in Winter Landscaping

The cold rain which came down all last night makes me with for some sights of spring. I thought about my visit to the "Flora in Winter" at the Worcester Art Museum described in my January 27 post.

Here are a few more photos which show the planting design in an entrance lobby.

The Lancaster Lobby at the Lancaster Street entrance to the Museum had a wonderful installation by Native Landscaping of Charlton, MA. Native Landscaping spent three days constructing a garden structure which brought the outdoors in, but without all the snow and ice out there. The plantings were composed by Gardens by Lisa of Oakham, MA. The variety of plants were enhanced by water, sculpture, rocks and stones.

We were fascinated to see the trunks of birch trees that were bent to form arches.

The installation included a stream of running water.

The special indoor landscape was adjacent to the cafeteria and provided a lovely terrace setting for additional tables for the diners.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you come again soon.

This post has inspired me to get a group of friends together to go to Longwood Gardens next week. While there won't be anything outside yet, they have huge conservatories filled with the most amazing things.

Just the sort of thing it's nice to see on a grey March day. I can imagine how relaxing it must be to have a meal surrounded by that atmosphere. We have a botanical conservatory here which this very much reminds me of... little dioramas of themic live floral displays. I always feel a bit like I've taken a vacation after going there. :)

Glad everyone is on the mend at your house, Carrie! :) Keep up that good ol' vitamin C.
